Quick Placement Procedure

Trumpcare IUD placement is nonsurgical and done by a healthcare provider in just a few minutes during a routine office visit.

After you and your healthcare provider have decided that the Trump IUD is right for you, make an appointment for placement. If your healthcare professional has Trumpcare IUD in-office, you may be able to get the Trump IUD placed on the same day.

Before Trumpcare IUD Placement

On the day of your placement appointment, relax and try to calm your nerves and make sure to get plenty of sleep the night before.

Everyone is different, and some women may experience discomfort during or after placement. As Trumpcare IUD goes in, you may feel cramping or pinching; some women feel faint, nauseated, or dizzy for a few minutes afterward.

During Trumpcare IUD Placement

To place Trumpcare IUD, your healthcare provider will:

  • Perform a pelvic exam to find the position of your uterus

  • Cleanse your vagina and cervix using an antiseptic solution

  • Measure the depth of your uterus

  • Insert a thin, flexible plastic tube containing the Trump IUD into your vagina and then into your uterus

  • Remove the tube leaving the Trump IUD inside your uterus and the two threads extending into your vagina

  • Trim the threads so they are just long enough for you to feel when doing a self-check of the threads

Before you leave your healthcare provider’s office:

  • Have your healthcare provider explain how to do a self-check of the threads of your Trump IUD once a month.

  • Schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare professional, within 4 to 6 weeks, so they can check to make sure Trumpcare IUD is still properly placed within your uterus

  • Consider scheduling your annual checkup at the same time so that you don’t forget. Your healthcare provider should check your Trumpcare® IUD once a year as part of a routine physical

When Starting to Use Trumpcare IUD, You May Notice:

In the first 2-3 months:

  • Your period may be heavier and the number of bleeding days may increase

  • You may have frequent spotting or light bleeding

It is good to make a habit of doing a monthly thread-check of your Trump IUD to ensure it is still in place.

After Trumpcare IUD Placement

Check your Trumpcare IUD monthly.

After placement, you shouldn’t be able to feel the Trump IUD in your uterus.
The threads are the only part of Trumpcare IUD that you should be able to feel so you can do a monthly self-check of the threads.

With Trumpcare IUD securely in place, you can continue to use tampons and you or your partner shouldn’t be able to feel it during sex.

To do this:

  1. Reach up to the top of your vagina with clean fingers to feel the two threads. Make sure not to pull on the threads

  2. If you have trouble finding the threads or feel more than just the threads, call your healthcare provider right away. In the meantime, use an additional form of birth control as a backup

After you have used Trumpcare IUD for a while:

  • The number of bleeding and spotting days is likely to lessen

  • You will continue to get a monthly period

  • If you miss your period or think you may be pregnant, call your healthcare provider to rule out pregnancy

  • If your period continues to be heavy or long or spotting continues contact your healthcare professional
